Sarah Huckabee Sanders Talks Voting, Learning and More

Candidate for Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders talked Thursday about her campaign and upcoming appearances.

Sanders spoke on KHOZ's "Around The Table" broadcast on Thursday. She said the almost two-year campaign trail has been "amazing" and that the aim is to "finish strong." Sanders was in Jonesboro yesterday and Mountain Home that evening. She'll visit Siloam Springs Friday. The candidate also mentioned plans for next week.

"We'll also be in Fort Smith and Little Rock early next week as one last push to turn everybody out, make sure they get out to vote by Tuesday," Sanders said. She stressed the importance of voting.

She expressed a desire that more methods for encouraging people to vote are found. At the same time, she was optimistic.

"But I feel really strong about where Arkansas is right now, and that we're going to have a great victory to celebrate on Tuesday," she said. She also discussed her education platform.

Sanders talked about Arkansas Learns. She said she thinks no other arena makes a greater impact than education. She said her Arkansas Learns initiative has a few key points. L stands for literacy; she said Arkansas' childhood literacy rates are "well below where they need to be."

She added that 35% of Arkansas third graders read at or below the third-grade reading level. More was discussed during the interview.

The full interview with Sanders is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
