Boone County Library May Activities

The Boone County Library moves into May with activities.

Terri Register and Amy Griffith appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss the packed month. Friends of the Library is hosting a children's and young adult book sale.

Register said that the sale is on May 10 and May 11. The library's summer reading program is approaching.

She said that this year, it's called "The Adventure Begins at Your Library." Signups for the program open the last week of this month and the first week of June. Children and adults can participate in the summer reading program.

The library will have a blood drive in June. Register said signups are open now. The library has a new service.

The library also offers notary services by appointment. The library is already getting patriotic.

Register said people can make patriotic wreaths at the library on May 14. Video editing is continuing at the library.

The last session will happen on the same day as the wreath-making. Register has art opportunities as well.

On May 23, the library will offer lilac painting. That event requires signups.

Griffith talked about what the library has for kids this month. She said edible "rainbow necklaces" are the craft for the night of May 2.

Teens can enjoy a pen challenge on May 7. With Mother's Day coming up, there's a chance to express love at the library.

Handprint flowers are available for a sweet Mother's Day craft. A teen has helped organize a class.

It's a photography basics class focused on taking pictures with one's phone. The month will end with paper-plate jellyfish making as well as slime making.

Griffith said the library is still looking for prize sponsors and monetary sponsors for the summer reading program. The library is available by phone at 870-741-5913. More was discussed on the broadcast.
