A woman from Missouri is arrested after an alleged case of assault near the Marion/Searcy County Line.

The story below from KTLO:

According to the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office, the department received a call from a woman near the Searcy/Marion County line where dispatchers could hear a man yelling in the background. The call abruptly dropped and dispatchers attempted to reconnect with the caller but it would not go through.Upon arrival, deputies found the caller, later identified as Jennifer Cummings, in a vehicle disabled and stuck on federal park land. While speaking with her, deputies believed she was being deceptive with her answers. She told deputies she was alone and there was no one else with her in the area.

A short time later, a man came out of the nearby forest and approached deputies. They observed him with severe bruising to his nose and cheeks where it was obvious he had been battered. He also had cuts across his shoulder, neck and arms.

During the investigation, deputies recovered a bicycle chain with portions wrapped in electrical tape. Law enforcement officials believed the man’s injuries were consistent of those made by the recovered chain.

Cummings was arrested and transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where she was charged with second degree domestic battery, aggravated assault and interfering with governmental operations. She is currently being held on $20,00 bond.
