Harrison Sales Tax Issues Pass

Voters have approved two Sales Tax Measures in Harrison for the development of the Creekside Community Center in Downtown as well as the maintenance and development of that facility as well as other park facilities in the city.

The first issue, a quarter of a cent tax to fund the bond for the facility, passed by a 917-638 margin while the second, to assist in the maintenance of all park facilities, passed 918-635.

The Boone County Clerk's Office will certify the ballots next Monday with the taxes set to take effect on October 1st. The tax to fund the bond will sunset in 18-20 years depending on the retiring of the bond while the other tax will become permanent.

Meanwhile, another area community passed a tax issue by even a wider margin. KTLO reports that residents in Cotter voted to extend their Sales Tax for Sewer Improvements by an 85-2 margin.
