Harrison Man Arrested for Theft

A Harrison man is facing theft charges after a stolen wallet from one business was found at another location earlier this month.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the Harrison Police Department responded to a report of a possible stolen cell phone pinging the location with the “Find My Phone” app at Bypass Liquor. Upon arrival, officers were informed the phone continued to ping, but no one else was located in the store. Employees also stated a burgundy wallet was found with the phone in the stores bathroom.

During the investigation, officers learned the original theft occurred earlier in the day at Skate Mania. The victim stated her wallet contained two debit cards, driver’s license and cell phone. Officers were able to confirm nothing was missing and the property was returned to the owner.

Security footage from Skate Mania showed a male, later identified as 32-year-old Cody Eastep, grabbed the wallet from a seat. Additional footage from Bypass Liquor showed Eastep enter the store and walk straight to the bathroom with the wallet. Eastep was able to be identified through a purchase he made using his own debit card.

Eastep faces a felony and misdemeanor count of theft of property. He was booked into the Boone County Detention Center and is free on bond.
