Camp Jack “Kids Fest” Points to More Programs To Come

Camp Jack held their first event geared toward veteran kids but hopes to do much more in the future.

This past Saturday Camp Jack put on their first ever “Kids Fest” at their property on South Pine Street. Michael Alsobrook took the lead the project according to Callie Mondy. She said they had a great turnout at the event which was geared towards athletic games for kids of Veterans.

She said the activities included lots of outdoor games like soccer, football, and cornhole plus door prizes. Matt Kalebaugh with the Harrison Elks Lodge #2311 cooked more than 80 hamburgers and hotdogs for those in attendance. Mondy also said they had donations from Signature Bank, Re/Max, and Nosari Home Mortgage.

Mondy said, “…it’s definitely something we want to do more often to give back to our kiddos, put the focus on them, spend some really good quality time with families. That’s what we’re really trying to promote.” She said that while this was just a one-time event Camp Jack is expanding their youth programs and they will have more events like this in the future.

In addition to fun activities Mondy said they hope to launch some family support groups next year to focus on the physical and mental health of children of veterans. They also hope to provide bags of toiletries to veteran kids in need and help get kids involved in sports and teach them sportsmanship.

Mondy said, “We want to do what we can for veteran kids, but it’s always open to the community as well.”
