Another Lakes Area Community is facing a change in their leadership.

A month after Diamond City went through a change, the City of Bull Shoals now is looking for a new mayor.

Michael Savu had submitted his resignation as mayor. A copy of the letter that was posted on the KTLO Website stated that due to circumstances beyond his control, he could no longer fulfill the role as mayor and that his resignation would be effective immediately.

During a special meeting Tuesday night recapped by KTLO, the City Council split 3-3 on accepting the mayor's resignation. City Recorder Tina Bailey, in accordance with Arkansas Law, casted the tie-breaking vote and decided in favor of accepting the Savu's resignation.

After the vote. the council along with people in attendance debated how to handle the vacancy, with an appointment to fill out the term or with a special election. According to several social media posts, the debate got very heated and did result in the removal and arrest of one man at the meeting. Eventually, it was decided that the decision would be tabled until the next Bull Shoals Regular City Council Meeting which takes place next Thursday.

According to Arkansas Law, Bailey will act as the city's mayor until an official decision is made.

The complete story can be found on the KTLO Website.
