Today is the deadline for Arkansas Hunters interested in taking part in the Elk Hunt this fall.
According to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, 18 permits will be available for public draw through online applications this season.
The drawing of the names of the people receiving the permits will take place during the Buffalo River Elk Festival in Jasper, June 23-24. Winners in the drawing will be notified via email and phone. Three additional on-site permits will be drawn during the festival. Those in the on-site drawing must be present to win according to the commission release.
