Two Goblins Named to 4A All-State Baseball Team

Dylan Block and Cy Madden named 4A All-State in baseball after state tournament win.

After defeating the Valley View Blazers 10-9 in extra innings in the 4A State Finals on May 20th, two Harrison Baseball Seniors have been named to the 4A All-State Baseball Roster by the Arkansas Activities Association.

The first of those two is Dylan Block who led the team with a .551 batting average, driving in 58 runs with nine homeruns, 32 singles, 14 doubles, and 4 triples.  Leading the team in each of those categories and others as well. Blocks pitching was second to none in his senior season with 59 2/3 innings thrown along with an ERA of 2.35 in 13 games. He struck out 69 and walked 32.

Block is joined on the All-State Roster by fellow senior Cylan Madden. Madden averaged .396 with the bat this year while driving in 48 runs with three homeruns, 27 singles, 12 doubles, and one triple. Madden also pitchedin more games than any other Goblin pitcher this year amassing 50 innings thrown and ERA of 6.3. He also struck out 62 batters while walking 65.

Defensively they both had a fielding percentage of over .900.

Both Block and Madden have their sights set on playing college baseball with Block going to St. Louis Community College and Madden headed to Grayson College. Neither of them plans to pitch in college but should be valuable assets to their teams both on the field and at the plate.

Also, on the 4A All-State Team will be other players from the 4A-1 district, of which the Goblins are a part, and a district that represented three of the four teams in the state semi-finals this year. From Farmington Myles Harvey and Trey Hill made the list along with Kolton Reynolds from Huntsville and Caleb Anderson from Shiloh Christian.

The Goblin’s state finals opponent, the Valley View Blazers, also had three players make the roster including Slade Caldwell, Eli Crecelius, and Lawson Ward.

The 1A All-State team includes some local talent as well including Cody Paul from Lead Hill, plus Trey Franklin and Decker Husky from Jasper.
