The Bergman Lady Panthers claim a State Basketball Championship while the Boys Team takes second in Class 3 Title Games.
The Bergman Girls led off the full day of games in Hot Springs taking on defending Champion Salem in a match-up of the past two champions after the Lady Panthers had grabbed the title in 2022. Bergman used three point shooting to jump out to a 27-17 halftime lead which expanded to 43-19 at the end of three as the Lady Panthers cruised from there. Taryn Holt led the Lady Panthers with 15 points.
Meanwhile, the news was not as good for the Boys Team as for the second year in a row, they take second place in 3A as they lose the Central Arkansas Christian 57-47. Bergman junior Dylan Friend led all scorers with 24 points.
The next area team to play for a State Title will be Marshall, as the Bobcats play East Poinsett County at 7:45 Saturday night in the final championship game of the weekend.
