What's Going on at Boone County Library This Month?

The Boone County Library has many activities this month and a way to have late book return fines reduced.

Terry Register and Amy Griffith from the Boone County Library appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Thursday to discuss what the library's lovers can expect for the month of November. Register explained that anyone who received a fine for late book returns has the opportunity to have those fines decreased.

The library has "Food for Fines" this month. Register said anyone who has fines can bring in items such as nonperishable foods, hygiene products, productions for babies and have those fines cut down. However, this offer isn't available for anyone with damaged and lost books; this also is not available for people with interlibrary loans.

Register said the library will be closed from Nov. 10 through Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. The doors will also close on Nov. 23 and Nov. 24 for Thanksgiving.

She said crocheting for adults still happens on Tuesdays, but now it occurs from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. instead of 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sandy Moss will come to the library on Nov. 7 and Nov. 9.

Moss will teach art journaling. Register said the aim is stress relief and management. On Nov. 14, the library will host "fall tree painting."

Register added that another activity is "standing snowmen with some wood disks." On Nov. 30, the library will have a "holiday breads in a jar" event.

The activity involves baking bread in a canning jar. Register recommended a "straight-sided jar." This will allow for easier removal of the bread. Griffith discussed activities for children.

She said that the library will have a "pinecone owls" activity on Nov. 9. Nov. 14 is "book page bookmarks."

That means making bookmarks from actual book pages. Nov. 16 is the birthday of Mickey Mouse.

To celebrate, Griffith said that the library will host a workshop to make Mickey Mouse ears. More information is on the library's website. More was discussed on the broadcast.

The full interview with Griffith and Register is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
