Update on Lagging Harrison Leaf Pick-up

Lagging progress on leaf pick-up has plans of catching up soon.

If you live in ward two of the City of Harrison you may be wondering when city crews will be coming by your house to take your leaves away. Ward two’s leaf pick-up started on November 29th and was scheduled to be completed by December 5th but many homes still have piles of leaves at the curb. Wade Phillips, Director of City Operations, says that is normal and crews will be catching up soon.

Phillips said, “the first ward [Ward 2] is always the heaviest.” He said that crews will start catching up as they get into other wards and they usually end up ahead by a couple of days at the end of the pick-up.

“The older parts of town have more mature trees and a lot more leaves,” Phillips said, “When we start getting into those newer parts there’s not as much there.”

Phillips also mentioned that rain has delayed crews a little bit as wet leaves are harder to get vacuumed up.

Even with early delays Phillips fully expects crews to finish the overall leaf pick-up on time or early.
