Two People Killed in Area Traffic Crashes

Two area residents are dead after a pair of traffic accidents Wednesday morning. 

The first accident according to the Arkansas State Police occurred around 6:40 am south of Marshall on Highway 65 when a bicycle driven by 65-year-old Charles Henrikson of Marshall was going north in the southbound lane and was struck by a vehicle heading south. The driver, whose name was not released, was not reported as injured. 

Later, a crash near the Marion/Baxter County Line on Highway 62/412 claims the life of 61-year-old Michael Alvey of Yellville. According to the ASP report, the crash occurred around 9:50 am when a vehicle driven by 52-year-old Shawn Johnson, also of Yellville, crossed the centerline and struck Alvey’s vehicle. Johnson was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment of his injuries.
