Two families are remembered as a sidewalk is dedicated on a busy highway in Harrison.

The sidewalk dedication took place on Capps Road, also known as Arkansas Highway 392, at 1505 Capps Road, the site of two pedestrian fatality accidents over 50 years apart.

According to the release from the City of Harrison, officials began working with the Arkansas Department of Transportation to get permission to put a sidewalk and crosswalk in this area after an accident last September that killed 19--year-old Paul Anthony (AJ) Lummus, Jr. as he was walking to work. After receiving ARDOT approval to proceed with the project, officials learned that another pedestrian fatality happened at that same location in 1968 as 13-year-old Jennifer Lee Woolston was taking some family and friends trick-or-treating on Halloween Night.

The city produced a Memorial Plaque that was placed at that location during a ceremony Friday with members of both families there along with Harrison Mayor Jerry Jackson and other officials.

The full release can be found on the City of Harrison Website.
