Two Boone County Residents Charged with Theft at Neighbors Property

Two Boone County residents have been charged with theft and residential burglary after they admit to enter two residences belonging to a neighbor without permission.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a home break in. The victim stated when she returned to her home, she had founds all her belongings rummaged through and many missing. She stated it appeared someone had been boxing up some of her belonging and sleeping on her living room floor.

The victim also stated someone had entered a second residence she owned just down the street. She told deputies it appeared someone had showered and used the toilet due to a muddy towel in front of the tub and dirty toiletry items in the toilet. She said she went to the neighbor’s residence to see if they had seen anyone, but was unable to make contact. The victim stated she observed a yellow makeup tote and silver laundry hamper in their yard which came from her home.

Upon arrival, deputies also tried to make contact with the neighbors, but were unsuccessful. They took photos of the items the victim reported as stolen, but did not seize them.

A few days later, deputies interviewed suspect, identified as 40-year-old Jason Cunningham, where he admitted going into the victim’s residences. One residence Cunningham entered was to access a water valve and the second was to plug an extension cord, but he denied taking anything from the residences. Cunningham stated he had been living with a second suspect, identified as 43-year-old Alicha Brewer, for approximately six months.

Brewer admitted to going inside the victim’s residences but denied taking items from either house.

Deputies returned to the residence, identified as Brewer’s, with a search warrant where they were able to identify numerous items reported stolen from the victim’s residences. The items were located in a A-frame style shed with the keys located inside Brewer’s home and vehicle.

Brewer and Cunningham were charged with residential burglary and theft of property. Cunningham and Brewer booked into the Boone County Detention Center on $15,000 bond. Brewer has since been released.
