Three Area Businesses to Benefit From USDA Rural Energy Grants

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced $124 million in program grants from their Rural Energy for America Program that will benefit projects in 44 states.

Three of the projects granted in Arkansas are in the region including one in Harrison. Collier Auto Supply, Inc. has been granted $45,657 to install a solar array for its business operations that will save over $3,300 in power costs annually. 

Also, a grant of $32,363 was awarded to Ink Properties, LLC to retrofit an existing renewable energy system for a rental cabin in the Harriet area of Searcy County which will save over 2000 gallons in Propane use for a generator while a $48,600 grant was approved for Batteau Blackwood Farms, LLC in Madison County for installation of a solar array for a commercial manufacturing operation that is renting the land located in Witter, saving over $5,000 in energy costs yearly. 

 According to the release from the USDA, a total of eight Rural Energy Grants are being awarded in Arkansas.
