Tax deadline is approaching.
Boone County Collector Amy Jenkins appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss taxes and more. She said the deadline is always Oct. 15, but the deadline is Oct. 16 this year. That's because the normal date lands on a weekend this year.
This will give taxpayers an "extra day" to get everything done for taxes. Later, Jenkins talked about how taxes are calculated.
She said most tax money is distributed to the school district; she added that it's "about 80%." Additionally, 3% of taxes is designated to roads.
Jenkins said if customers are in a hurry, her office has a dropbox in which they can drop the necessary items; customers will receive a receipt via email. More was discussed during the interview.
