Summer Program Nearing End and After School Program Taking Sign-ups

Harrison Parks and Recreation Director Chuck Eddington said Monday that the end of the summer program is close.

"We're getting close to the end of our 10-week cycle, so we got this week and one more," Eddington said Monday on KHOZ's "Around The Table" program. The program had about 100 kids participate during the first eight weeks but now has 75 to 80 daily. Eddington attributed this to "a lot of vacations in July." He also discussed school programs.

The after-school program starts the first day of school, and Eddington said sign-ups are now welcome. "So, it's a K-6 program too, and the school buses the kids in to drop them off at the youth center," he said. Students stay there until about 5:30 or 6 p.m. when their parents leave work.

"We have activities for them to do," he said. Signing up can be done by calling the youth center and talking to Leah or picking up a form.

The full interview with Eddington is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
