St. Joe Man Facing Seven Felony Drug Charges

A Searcy County man arrested late last month following a raid at his residence has been formally charged.

Fifty-seven-year-old Clinton Elliott of St. Joe is facing felony counts of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver (marijuana), possession of a controlled substance (hydrocodone), possession of a controlled substance (oxycodone), operating a drug premises and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the probable cause affidavit, members of the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office, the Marshall Police Department and the 20th Judicial District Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on U.S. Highway 65. Contact was made with the homeowner, identified as Elliott, and the search soon began.

A black magnetic box was reportedly located in the master bedroom with nine small Ziploc bags weighing nearly 3 1/2 grams each. A large bag of a green vegetable substance, weighing nearly 200 grounds, was then found in a trunk under the kitchen bar. Authorities also located a black pot in the living room containing over $10,000 in cash, a large back of a green vegetable substance, a cigarette cellophane with a green substance, three large Ziploc bags containing smaller bags of a crystalline substance, a set of digital scales with white residue and packaging material. Other items reportedly found include approximately 35 suspected hydrocodone pills, 22 suspected oxycodone pills and two glass smoking devices with burnt residue.

During an interview at the residence, Elliott reportedly admitted to agents the items belonged to him. He allegedly claimed to have purchased a pound of methamphetamine for $8,000 and packaged it in bags for personal use. Elliott also reportedly claimed ownership of the marijuana but said he just gives it away to others.

A total approximate weight of the suspected methamphetamine was over 518 grams. The marijuana reportedly weighed 505 grams.
