Sports Tourism Projected for over $4 Million Impact in Harrison Area in 2024

Information released from the City of Harrison projects a big year for the area when it comes to Sports Tourism. 

According to a story posted on the City of Harrison Website, Harrison Parks Director Chuck Eddington and Explore Harrison Executive Director Matt Bell recently visited the bid process meeting of the Arkansas Activities Association to secure postseason regional and state high school tournaments to the region. 

Bell said in the release that with the help of the School Districts of Boone, Marion, and Newton Counties along with North Arkansas College, they were able to secure several events. 

According to the Arkansas Activities Association Website, postseason tournaments scheduled for Harrison this year include the 1A Basketball Championships, hosted by Omaha at North Ark as well as the 5A State Baseball Championship hosted by Harrison at the Equity Bank Sports Complex. Omaha and Valley Springs will host 1A and 3A Baseball and Softball Regional Tournaments as well at the Sports Complex. Bergman High School will also host the Class 3A Soccer Championships this year. 

Bell and Eddington project at least a $4.1 million economic impact in the region with these and over events in the region this year.
