Ceremonies are set for Friday morning to mark the grand opening of the Buffalo River Historic Jail and Museum in Marshall.

The facility is located one block off the Marshall square at 300 South Arkansas 27. A ribbon cutting is set for 11.

The new museum and tourist attraction tells the history of the people of the Buffalo River Watershed.

The former jail houses the new chamber of commerce office and visitor information center (VIC) for Searcy County.

The jail was built in 1902 and used until 1976.

The restoration project to convert it into the new chamber office and VIC began in 2015.

The project was completed with state, federal and private funding.
