Searcy County Man Faces Charges

A Searcy County man has been charged with felony counts of terroristic threatening and aggravated assault.

Story from KTLO:

53-year-old Dennis Patrick Shay and the victim were at a friend’s home in Marshall for a bar-b-q when the victim shared with the friend that the victim was in an abusive relationship with Shay, who is her husband. While on their way home, the victim called her friend and she overheard Shay say at one point he was going to kill her. The friend told the victim to meet her at a Shell gas station and she would have the sheriff’s office meet them.

According to the probable cause affidavit, when Shay and the victim arrived, she ran to the vehicle of her friend and law enforcement asked him to step out of the car, detaining him pending a field investigation. The victim told officers her and Shay started arguing as soon as they left the party. She stated he told her all of the problems they had where because of her and it would all be over soon. She continued to say he starting hitting her in the face with a water bottle while she was driving and at one point threatened he was going to kill her and grabbed the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to almost run off the roadway.

The victim stated several times that she was fearful for her life. She stated Shay had told her on more than one occasion if she ever call the law or had him put in jail, he would hunt her down and killer her. The victim told law enforcement he has ties to the motorcycle club Hells Angels out of California and she knows he will follow through on the threats he made to her.

Officers were given consent from the victim to search the vehicle where they found marijuana. Shay was arrested and transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where he was charged with felony charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threatening, along with misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and first degree assault on a family or household member.

Shay was released on bond with an order of no contact with the victim. He is scheduled for a bond revocation hearing this week for violating the no contact order.
