Searcy County Man Arrested in Shooting Incident

A Searcy County man has been arrested without bond for shooting his neighbor twice while passing his residence.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of a shooting involving a male subject. Dispatched confirmed a report of a victim who had been shot twice while driving by a neighbor. 

Upon arrival, law enforcement encountered a vehicle known to belong to 52-year-old Ronnie Yerkey and performed a traffic stop. The stop revealed the driver to be a family member to Yerkey where he told authorities he heard the shot come from the residence and went to make sure everyone was alright. After finding out who was shot, he stated they ran him off the property. 

The victim reported he was driving past the Yerkey’s residence when he was shot twice and suffered a gunshot wound to his left temple and left hand. 

Yerkey is charged with two counts of terroristic act and one count of theft by receiving. He is currently being held at the Searcy County Detention Center without bond and ordered no contact with the victim, along with no possession of weapons, firearms, or ammunition.
