Sam Adams to Perform at Lyric Theater Friday

Sam Adams is set to take the Lyric stage for the fourth year in a row.

Comedian Sam Adams is set to take the stage for the fourth year in a row at the historic Lyric Theater this Friday Night at 7:00PM. Adams joined KHOZ’s “Around The Table” on Tuesday to talk about his upcoming performance. He said people who have seen his show before can expect a whole new show Friday night.

“I think after a while people think, ‘oh we’ve seen him before,’” but Adams said “it’s a new set and you have to do that. You have to reset.” He went on to say that this year’s show will feature a lot of talk about the young Sam Adams versus the older Sam Adams. Instead of the traditional older self going back in time to talk to the younger self Adams will talk about what his younger self would say to him now.

Adams said he wanted to think about what a younger version of himself might say to him now like, “What, how did you screw this up?”

When asked what he looks forward to about Harrison each year Adams said he likes to see what is different. He mentioned the ongoing renovations he’s heard about at the Lyric Theater and looks forward to seeing that along with the holiday light displays downtown. “I just want to see what the town looks like, what’s changed, what’s new. I guess now you’ve got Dunkin’ Donuts, got to go take a picture in front of Dunkin’ Donuts,” Adams quipped.

He also mentioned some gifts that he was presented in previous Harrison performances including a license plate given to him by the Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce, a Goblin hoodie which he says he wears from time to time, and a note from an audience member the first year he performed here that he said touched him. The note said, “You were great, we loved you,” then they crossed out part of the text and changed it too, “No, you are great, we love you.” Adams said that note “tore my heart in pieces.”

Adams urged people to get their tickets now as there are plenty available. He said that Harrison is like Los Angeles in that many people wait to get their tickets to things at the last minute so he’s hopeful for another full house.

Tickets can be purchased at thelyricharrison.org or picked up at the box office on Friday night. The show is at 7:00 PM and the doors will open at 6:00 PM.
