Refunds for NABORS Fees Showing up in Mailboxes

As expected, some residents of the Ozark Mountain Solid Waste District have started receiving refund checks.

The payments are for fees collected in six north central Arkansas counties as payment for the debt incurred to purchase the NABORS waste hauling operation and landfill in Baxter County.

The checks are for the year 2019 but are just over 58% of what tax payers paid in. Of the $18 paid, the checks are for $10.50. A letter accompanying the check from the attorneys in the lawsuits against Ozark Mountain Solid Waste District and Bank OZK states $6 is payable to attorney fees for the four years of litigation thus far, and $1.50 is for the costs of the litigation.

The letter says they hoped to have payments for the years of 2017 and 2018 but the lawyers allege Bank OZK has placed those funds with a Pulaski County court and they do not know when they will get the funds back.

Anyone with questions about the refund or the court case can contact Bishop Law Firm in Fayetteville at 479-363-6171.

A copy of the letter sent to people getting the checks can be found on the KTLO Website.
