Police Chief Talks Impacts of Act 218

Act 218 requires small towns to acquire full-time police officers before they can have police departments, according to Diamond City Police Chief Troy Burleson

Burleson discussed this during KHOZ's "Around The Table" show on Thursday. "If they (small towns) can't afford to have a full-time officer, they lose their department," he said. Up until now, these small towns, like Omaha, had part-time officers who would cover shifts.

Burleson said if this happens, the small towns will rely on the county. He said this led him back to basic training.

He and Fred Starnes decided to go "back to school" to do pushups and more. He talked about this and more.

The full interview with Burleson is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
