Pace Industries Announces Temporary Layoffs at Harrison Aluminum Plant

Pace Industries, LLC (“Pace”) has announced a planned layoff of employees at their aluminum plant in Harrison, AR, effective July 18, 2022. 

The following is a press release from the Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce. 

The Pace Harrison Aluminum plant is a primary manufacturer of high-pressure die cast products supporting leading customers in the lawn and garden and automotive industries. Recent seasonal downward trends for a major customer resulted in reduced orders sooner than expected. The constriction of product orders has prompted the downsize of the workforce in Harrison while plans are implemented to bring in new customers to return to normal production levels. 

Employees were notified the week of July 11th of the coming changes through a series of town hall meetings with the plant leadership team. 

“Harrison is where Pace was founded over 50 years ago, and our facilities here continue to be an essential part of the company’s success. There is a strong foundation here in both the plant and within the community to build upon. Between other Pace leadership and I we are working diligently to ensure that additional business is brought into the plant to get us back to where we want to be. The dedication of our employees cannot be understated, and it is my goal to have them back working for Pace as quickly as possible,” said Michael Bakaric, General Manager. 

To support those impacted by layoffs, Pace is offering to send employees on temporary assignment to one of their other 18 manufacturing locations. They are also partnering with the local Harrison Chamber of Commerce for alternate employment opportunities. 

Bob Largent, President/CEO of the Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce noted, “Pace is a mainstay industry in Harrison and Boone County, and we value their determination to remain just that. We trust the leadership team here and in Novi to work toward returning the production facility to full capacity in the very near future. In the meantime, the community is prepared to provide any assistance needed to ease the temporary layoff.”
