Organization Helps Veterans and Horses

Fred Woehl and Lindsey Gabbard from Branded Equine Based Therapy Services discussed Friday the organization and the services it offers.

Gabbard said Branded Equine Based Therapy Services is a "relatively new non-profit" located in Harrison. Horses are included in physical, speech, and occupational therapy. The therapies are available to many people; Woehl and Gabbard spoke about this and more on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Friday

"We serve children with disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, those kinds of folks," Gabbard said. Riding lessons and therapeutic riding are also available. Gabbard added that a veteran and first responder program is offered too.

Another program is also provided. It's called Operation Branded; it's a Wild Mustang program. "It's a eight week program, and we guide them through the process. The veteran gets to actually go and pick his wild horse from partnership with the Bureau of Land Management who manages the mustangs in America," she said.

This organization also helps save or protect horses thorough their programs. A surprising piece of information: according to Gabbard, there are thousands of wild mustangs in America.

The program is free for veterans.

The full interview with Gabbard and Woehl is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
