Ongoing Sidewalk Projects

Sidewalk improvements along Central Avenue happing to two different projects.

There a couple of different sidewalk projects happening in Harrison, mainly along Central Avenue.

Crews are working on improving or adding sidewalks along Central Avenue between Pine Street and Oak Street as well as from Oak Street to Tamarind Street.

Two different companies are handling each of the locations. B&H Specialties are working on sidewalks in a few places around town and they are handling the work between Pine Street and Oak Street. Davis Construction is going to be making sidewalk improvements between Oak Street and Tamarind Street.

Wade Phillips, Harrison Public Works Director, said the portion being handled by B&H Specialties should be finished in a week or two. Crews cannot pour concrete during subfreezing temperatures so Phillips said weather could have an effect on that.

The Davis Construction portion of the work will not be completed until late spring or early summer of 2022. Phillips said, “They’re ripping up all the curbing gutter, putting in new curbing gutter, going to repave it and put in sidewalks.”

There is no set deadline for that work. Phillips said, “it’s going to be more of when we run out quantities on contracts. Then we’ll shut that one down and start putting together another one and get another contractor working.”
