October is the month to be reminded of the continuing prevalence of Domestic Violence in the United States.
During a recent interview on the At Your Service Podcast, Macy, a College of the Ozarks Nursing Student, reviewed some of the statistics, which include 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner which adds up to over 10 million victims a year.
The podcast, a part of the series through the Stone County Community Health Coalition, also talked about organizations that can help people get through abuse and the importance of reporting abuse if suspected.
In Stone County, Harbor House is the organization that is a place for victims of abuse to get support while in Taney County, the Crisis Center offers that support and shelter.
The Crisis Center of Taney County held their annual Candlelight Vigil earlier this month. According to a recap of the event by the Branson Tri-Lakes News, the event held at the Branson Christian Church remembered both victims and survivors of domestic violence.
The complete story on the candlelight vigil can be found on the Branson Tri-Lakes News Website while the complete At Your Service Podcast interview can be heard on the Branson Podcast Network.
