NARMC's new Volunteer Services Coordinator Energizes Volunteer Effort

The North Arkansas Regional Medical Center (NARMC) auxiliary has a new volunteer services coordinator, and she's already working away.

Rebekah Lovell fills that position. She appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Thursday to talk about the new experience.

One of the events she was behind was the Volunteer Appreciation banquet on Tuesday night; it was hosted at Signature Bank. This week is Volunteer Appreciation Week, and the banquet is one way appreciation is shown to volunteers. A band from Boliver played, and Western Sizzlin Steakhouse Harrison catered for the occasion. Lovell described the event as "beautiful."

She talked about another event, this one occurring on Wednesday. The Northwest Arkansas District volunteer meeting was hosted by NARMC.

The volunteer services coordinator has worked in her role since February, but that's not stopping her from conceiving and powering up new things. She and Kim Rosson, who now occupies the role of coordinator of special projects after retiring from the position of director of marketing and community relations, teamed up to start a new volunteer program.

It's the Junior Volunteer Program, and it's for high school students. The program has students who want to work in the medical field in mind. They have to do all of the different testing for sicknesses that hospital employees do. Now, the high school has two programs geared toward helping students fulfill the community service requirement; Lovell said students need 75 hours of community service credit to graduate from high school.

The other program is called the "JET Program," the Junior Engagement Team Program. It's for students who want to work at the thrift store or give their time to work on special events. Rosson and Lovell explained that it's the ideal route for students who desire to help the hospital but prefer not to work in it.

Later, Rosson talked briefly about future events. More was discussed on the broadcast.

The full interview with Lovell and Rosson is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
