A Mountain Home man with a lengthy criminal history has been arrested again in connection with the theft of a vehicle and a trailer in Harrison.

Forty-eight-year-old Michael George Scudder was arrested Sept. 13 on two felony charges.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Harrison Police Department, the victim, who is in an assisted living facility, had his house broken into Sept. 11 according to his personal assistant. A car, guns, money and vehicle titles were stolen.

Two days later, a neighbor reported to police a vehicle pulled up to the victim’s house, letting two males out who took the victim’s truck along with an attached trailer and riding lawn mower.

A short time later, the vehicle was stopped by an Arkansas State trooper with Scudder driving. The two men in the truck, along with the female who had dropped them off, were brought in for questioning.

The female said Scudder asked her to drive him to Harrison to pick up a vehicle he had purchased. She says Scudder showed her a registration card and insurance with the vehicle in his name.

The other male had a similar story, saying Scudder had papers for the truck.

Scudder told investigators he had met with the victim and agreed to purchase the truck, trailer and mower. When police checked with the victim’s assistant and the assisted living facility and the victim had not been out of the facility on the day Scudder said he met with him.

Scudder is facing felony charges of theft of a vehicle and theft of property along with a misdemeanor charge of fraudulently applying for a vehicle registration.

Scudder has been convicted of multiple offenses dating back to 2016. Offenses include simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, drug offenses, breaking or entering, theft of property, criminal mischief, theft of services and criminal trespass.
