Markeeta Tucker on Renter's Rights and More

Markeeta Tucker talked Friday about her race for Boone County House District six; she shared her views on a variety of topics.

Tucker talked about this on KHOZ's "Around The Table" show on Friday's broadcast. Tucker said she's a fifth-generation Arkansas resident and "Army brat." She said her parents gave her the world and that this experience allowed her to meet many people and experience other cultures. She highlighted her reason for running.

"I've been wanting to do this for quite some time because has been getting ugly, and I just want to bring back the civility of it and actually work for the people instead of against the people," Tucker said. The candidate also commented on current issues.

She said she doesn't think it's anyone's business what happens in the homes of other people and that "nobody should be telling other parents what to do." Tucker added that this is the case "unless it endangers the life of the child." She also emphasized the issue of renter's rights.

She said the current situation makes renters who don't pay rent within two weeks open to felony charges and jail time. "People have to decide 'do I feed my kids this week, or do I pay my rent,'" she said. The candidate said everyone has been in that circumstance at some point in life.

Tucker also expressed the desire to work on solutions to benefit farmers. She discussed all of this and more during the interview.

The full interview with Tucker is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
