Marion County Man Charged in Christmas Incident

A Marion County man has been arrested after allegedly choking a victim, attempting to ignite a propane tank and threatening to shoot himself on Christmas.

Fifty-two-year-old Brian Torgerson of Yellville is facing felony counts of aggravated assault on a family or household member and possession of a firearm, along with a misdemeanor of criminal mischief.

According to the probable cause affidavit, officers from the Marion and Ozark County sheriffs’ departments responded to a complaint of an armed male threatening to kill a woman at a residence in the Dugginsville community on the state line.

The caller said Torgerson had allegedly grabbed her mother by the throat and released her before grabbing a propane tank and attempting to light in.

During the call, Torgerson reportedly left the residence and in the process hit the victim’s vehicle with the car he was driving. He returned to the residence a few minutes later and placed a rifle to his head.

Ozark County deputies arrived to find Torgerson sitting in his car with the rifle. Deputies note the rifle chamber was empty, but ammo was found around the driver’s seat and in the floorboard.

Torgerson complied with commands and was handcuffed without incident.

He is being held in the Marion Count jail, with bond set at $25,000.
