Marion County Man Arrested After Injuring Law Enforcement Officers

A Marion County man is behind bars after he injured two deputies who were trying to arrest him. 20-year-old Jongavin Quinn Roop of Yellville is facing multiple charges from the incident.

The probable cause affidavit indicates deputies had gone to the Yellville City Park to check on a recent domestic violence victim to make sure Roop was not with her. Deputies found Roop in a vehicle with the victim and he had a metal grinder and glass smoking pipe on his seat.

Once Roop was out of the vehicle, he became combative while being arrested. During the scuffle, both deputies were knocked to the ground and received minor injuries. The deputies were able to eventually get Roop in handcuffs.

During a search of the vehicle, suspected marijuana was also found.

Roop is charged with two felony counts of battery on a police officer in the second degree. Misdemeanor charges include resisting arrest, possession of a schedule IV-controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and violating a no contact order. His bond is set at $10,000.
