According to the probable cause affidavit, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence in Bergman for a report of a vehicle crashing into a home. While en route to the scene, the caller reported the suspect, 28-year-old Ismael Lopez, was sitting in the car yelling and threatening to drive the car into the residence again.

Upon arrival, law enforcement observed Lopez standing at the front door of the home. Officers also observed a gray vehicle in front of the home with heavy front end damage. When the officer exited his vehicle, Lopez approached him and stated “it’s you again? I told you last night that I was going crazy, can I see your gun?” Lopez attempted to pull away, but officers were able to place him in handcuffs without incident.

During the investigation, Lopez’s brothers told officers he woke up to Lopez running the car into the house and several times around the yard. The vehicle he used to run into the house belonged to one of the brothers. Estimated damage to the vehicle and property is eight to ten thousand dollars.

In an incident from the night before, officers were dispatched to Lopez’s residence where stated his family was trying to kill him and talked about going to ‘war with Boone County.’ Officers observed his statements did not make sense. Lopez stated he only wanted officers to call homeland security or immigration. EMS was called to evaluate and Lopez refused to go or answer their questions. During this incident, he told officers he was not an American citizen.

Lopez did not have an identification card out of any state and the last known information law enforcement could find for him was a 2017 arrest in Texas where he is from.

When Lopez was placed in to the patrol car, he began to hit his head on the cage. Once he calmed down, he was transported to the Boone County Detention Center. He is currently being held on $10,000 cash only bond.
