The full release below is from KTLO:

A man is in the Boone County Jail and Detention Center on an accusation of forcing a woman and child in a vehicle and making the woman drive him. Forty-one-year-old Jeffrey Dalton of Harrison is facing felony counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, aggravated assault on a family or household member and first-degree terroristic threatening.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the woman and child went to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office on the evening of Aug. 2, and the woman accused Dalton of forcing her and the juvenile into a vehicle while he was intoxicated. She claimed Dalton got lost on a dirt road in Bellefonte and forced her to drive the vehicle. He allegedly told her to figure out how to get out of the area or he would beat her, and he reportedly raised his fist at her.

The female says she made it back to U.S. Highway 65 and knew she was close to the sheriff’s office. As she drove southbound, Dalton allegedly said, “If you go to the cops, I will kill you.”

The woman stated she believed she was turning into the sheriff’s office, but it was actually the headquarters of the Arkansas State Police Troop I. When she turned into the parking lot, Dalton reportedly grabbed the shift and forced it into park. The victim claims she exited the vehicle, ran to the front of the building, banged on the glass and yelled for help with no answer. Dalton allegedly forced her back into the vehicle, and she drove southbound to the sheriff’s office.

When they got close to Law Drive, Dalton allegedly grabbed the steering wheel in an attempt to prevent her from turning into the driveway. He and the female reportedly fought over the wheel, and Dalton later jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot as the victim turned into the driveway.

After a be on the lookout advisory was put out on Dalton, he was discovered to have a felony warrant from Marion County and a nationwide extradition felony warrant from Texas. As the female continued to speak with the deputy, Dalton reportedly called and texted her several times. The deputy states he spoke with Dalton in an attempt to set up a meeting, but the suspect refused and would only scream at the deputy.

Later that night, Dalton continued to contact the female and stated he was at a Harrison coffee shop. She reportedly agreed to meet with him so he could be taken into custody. They met at the intersection of Forward Drive and Industrial Park Road, and authorities were able to take Dalton into custody without further incident.

Dalton’s bond is set at $5,000, but he also has a hold for other agencies.
