Man Accused of Feeding Neighbor's Dog Poisoned Food

A Boone County man has been arrested for poisoning his neighbor’s dog and feeding it food with a screw in it.

Arrested for the Christmas day incident is 21-year-old Quinton Thomas Chaney of Harrison.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the neighbor had video surveillance footage showing Chaney putting food through the fence dividing his yard and the victim’s yard. The footage shows Chaney carrying a pot and dumping food out at the fence line and into a hole in the fence.

The victim told police his dog ate some of the food and had to be taken to the veterinarian for abnormal behavior.

The animal clinic noted the dog vomited up a block of cheese that had a screw pushed through it. Some of the other food the dog vomited up was sent to the University of California Davis Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory System for analysis. The lab report indicated the food had a high concentration of ethylene glycol which is found is antifreeze and brake fluid.

Investigators found the compound is often fatal to dogs.

Chaney is facing a felony count of aggravated cruelty to a dog. He is free on $5,000 bond.
