Man Accused of Beating Women in Marion County

A man is accused of beating two women, including his ex-wife and breaking into her residence.

Thirty-seven-year-old Charles Gillingham of the Promise Land area is in the Marion County Law Enforcement Center with his bond set at $75,000.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a Marion County deputy was dispatched to a residence on County Road 145 in Oakland on Nov. 24 for a physical domestic in progress. A female accused her ex-husband, identified as Gillingham, of breaking into her residence and beating her with a bat.

During the attack with the bat, another female with Gillingham ran out of the residence. The deputy later contacted her, and she claimed she was held against her will for most of the morning.

Gillingham is facing two felony counts of terroristic threatening and a felony count each of first-degree battery, breaking or entering, aggravated assault, criminal mischief and a charge as a habitual offender. He is also charged with a misdemeanor count of third-degree domestic battering.
