Los Ebanos Mexican Restaurant Ribbon Cutting

Los Ebanos Mexican Restaurant is open and ready for business!

The Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for Harrison’s newest Mexican Restaurant, Los Ebanos, Friday morning.

Los Ebanos is owned by Thomas and Jenny Honer. Thomas has owned Western Sizzlin Steak House in Harrison since 1999 and said his wife is Spanish and when the property became available they thought it would be a great opportunity for her to open a Mexican restaurant. “She does authentic stuff, so it worked out really good,” Thomas said.

They opened the establishment on August 14, 2021, and Thomas said things have gone really so far and he hopes that continues.

Mayor Jerry Jackson was on hand for the ceremony and said, “over the last few years we hear people say we’ve got enough Mexican restaurants, but you know what? We never have enough Mexican restaurants. Why do we open Mexican restaurants? It’s because that’s what people want.”

Chamber President and CEO Bob Largent asked Thomas where the name Los Ebanos came from and he explained that his wife, Jenny, is from Ebano, Mexico. Ebano is a tree that is prevalent in Mexico and “Los” means more than one in Spanish and so their logo features two trees and the name “Los Ebanos.”

Largent closed the ceremony saying, “The Chamber is thrilled to have you in this community. You’re bringing something new and exciting.”
