Local Group Looks to Increase Membership and Continues Serving the Community

A local club wants to increase its membership, according to Joan Bell from Harrison Kiwanis Club.

Bell appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to talk about increasing membership and the club in general. She said the club will accept people wanting to serve kids.

There's a fee to join; Bell said the fee is about $50 a month. The benefit of the fee is meals at Western Sizzlin.

She also discussed an upcoming event. Bell said Friday is "Special Olympics Day." She said it should run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Harrison Hich School's football field.

Additionally, Bell talked about the group in general. She said the Kiwanis Club began in 1955.

She explained that they're a "service organization." Even though they are present outside of Harrison, she said that they serve Harrison's youth.

The group, which has a variety of differently focused clubs, meets every Monday at noon at Western Sizzlin, people are invited to come to the meetings. The full interview with Bell is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
