Layne Ragsdale Talks Recent Honor

Layne Ragsdale talked Thursday about a recent honor she received.

Ragsdale talked on KHOZ's "Around The Table" about being named Arkansan of the Day. She received this from KATV and Little Rock. Her involvement in the Harrison Task Force on Race Relations spans 20 years. She said the organization began with the desire to know and share the "Harrison story.

Ragsdale said what people thought of Harrison before this work started is not the city she knew. Ragsdale moved from Branson, Missouri to Harrison, Arkansas in the late eighties.

She said the organization was the "driving force" for race relations work early on; however, she said others like Harrison Mayor Jerry Jackson and groups similar to the task force, like the Martin Luther King Jr. Commission, have stepped up.

"The task force is in a supporting role today, but we are not the driver of these, and that is exactly as it should be. It's just a wonderful thing," Ragsdale said.

She talked about all this and more. The full interview with Ragsdale is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
