Kirkpatrick on Renovation and the new Building

Heath Kirkpatrick from the Boone Country Quorum Court talked about the renovation and the new headquarters on Thursday.

Kirkpatrick appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Thursday. He said the Duran Center would be "perfect" if it were the new location but acknowledged that it went off the market before a vote was taken. $4 million from the American Rescue Plan went toward purchasing the building. There was an additional potential $4 million for renovation. Kirkpatrick stressed why this building was purchased.

He said no one is earning money from the purchase; he said this building was the "only building available" to meet the current needs to hold court. Another problem is on the table.

Kirkpatrick said that a buyer is still needed for the former courthouse. "We need to figure that out, and we don't have any solutions just yet," he said. He encouraged people to attend the quorum court meetings.

Committee meetings are on the first Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. Quorum court meetings are on the second Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m.

"I challenge people, get involved," Kirkpatrick said.

All of this and more was discussed during the interview which is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
