Arkansas State Senator Bryan King and Boone County Quorum Court member Glenn Redding spoke on Thursday about their progress to get transparency about data and crypto mining bills.
King and Redding appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Thursday to talk about data centers. Both men have voiced concerns about the centers, but their work to mitigate the negative impact of the bills faced opposition.
On Friday, Redding shared that he and King went to a special session committee meeting. It involved the county-city local affairs committee; House and Senate members were present.
During the meeting, which occurred in Rogers, Arkansas, King and Redding testified along with the mayor. The aim is to get an interim study up and running.
The senator went on to state that "digital currency" is being identified as a player in drug deals but acknowledged that this doesn't mean everyone is engaging in such acts. Digital currency cuts out the need for transporting money.
Earlier, Redding said these data center bills, which traveled through the local House and Senate were voted on by mislead lawmakers. Redding later added that they "combine data mining with crypto mining" but that they aren't identical at all. More was discussed on the broadcast.
