KHOZ’s Season of Caring Gives $500 to Single Mother of Three

The contest was sponsored by Holt Memorial Chapel and asked people to nominate others who were deserving of $500 for Christmas and tell us why.

The Original KHOZ held its season of caring giveaway contest and gave away the $500 prize on Tuesday morning.

The contest was sponsored by Holt Memorial Chapel and asked people to nominate others who were deserving of $500 for Christmas and tell us why. Out the many submissions received one was chosen as the winner and she was nominated by Dan Dillard with North Arkansas Partnership on Health Education.

Dillard appeared on KHOZ’s morning show on Tuesday to represent the single mother of three that won and chose to remain anonymous. Dillard said out of all the people NAPHE helps this lady stood out.

“Seemingly more often, any which direction we look, individuals let their circumstances get the best of them,” Dillard said, “she stood out in my mind as an individual who certainly did not let that happen.” He went on the say this mother has struggled with addiction and substance abuse in the past and is working to put her life back together after a recent divorce.

Phillip Collie with Holt Memorial Chapel said he looks forward to meeting this family and, “seeing how this blesses their lives during this Christmas season because that’s what we want to do is help somebody and, me personally, want to help somebody that wants to help themselves.”

“I wish we could do more, and I wish every company and business in town would come together and do something like this so we could help more people,” Collie said.

Collie’s family has owned Holt Memorial Chapel for one year as of this month and have made sweeping renovations and improvements to their facility at 1904 Capps Rd. in Harrison. Collie said, “we’re here for you. You can check us out on our website at www.holtchapel.com and stop by and introduce yourself, we’d love to meet you.”

KHOZ thanks Holt Memorial Chapel for making our Season of Caring possible.
