Kenneth Cates Talks Campaign

Candidate for U.S. Senate Kenneth Cates discussed his campaign and why he's running on Friday.

Cates talked about this on KHOZ's "Around The Table" Friday broadcast. He said both major political parties "answer to big donors." He said they work to benefit themselves once they're in office. Cates indicated that inflation and "out of control government spending" are big issues.

"The government admits that 60 billion is wasted every year on Medicare," Cates said. He tied this to inflation and said when the government spends more they tax more. He discussed social security.

He said in the long-term entitlement programs like Social Security need to end. He said government can help people, but he said people shouldn't fall into "cradle to grave entitlement."

Cates said the federal government has a role in citizens' lives, but the candidate added that it's a minimal role.
