Kaliegh Evans Talks Grandma's House in 2022 and Looking Ahead

Kaliegh Evans from Grandma's House Child Advocacy Center talked Wednesday about 2022.

Evans appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" broadcast Wednesday. She said this year has "been slower" compared to the previous two years. She said the organization saw "about 500 children each year" but added that this year saw 330 children. She said that might reach 350. "So, I'm very happy to say that things have seemed to have slowed down a little bit," Evans said. The organization has four locations; even though it's running at "full staff," Evans said the team has "running ragged" to accomplish everything. She also discussed an uptick in cases.

Evans said upticks are normally seen before Christmas break because "people realize they're going to home for a while." She said upticks are also seen when school resumes. Evans also highlighted signs of abuse to watch for.

She noted seeing one's child being "adverse" to hugging certain individuals. Additionally, she said to check in on kids playing "behind closed doors." Aside from that, Evans also said to make sure all children are eating at holiday gatherings.

Further, she listed children wearing coats or long-sleeve shirts in warm or hot environments as something to look for.

Later, Evans said the organization needs individually packed snacks and drinks. She discussed all of this and more during the broadcast.
