Jim Johnson talked Wednesday about the Lendel Thomas Basketball Classic.

Johnson appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss the Lendel Thomas Basketball Classic. It was set to commence on Wednesday at Goblin Arena. Johnson said it was called Ozark Basketball Classic before the current name. "It was the first tournament in Arkansas of its kind," Johnson said. He highlighted the purpose of the event.

It made money and focused on scholarships. He said it was usually between Christmas and the New Year. The scholarship is for athletes in Harrison schools.

Johnson said Patty Thomas gathered traits of her late husband when creating the scholarship. Johnson said eligible students can be C students and that athletic ability isn't required. Leadership traits and "being a good teammate" are ideal.

He said at least one male and one female Harrison High athlete win the scholarship yearly. Johnson discussed all of this and more.
