Harrison Man Charged For Alleged Attacks on Ex-Girlfriend

A Harrison man has been arrested following an alleged attack against his ex-girlfriend. 29-year-old William Tyler Surett is facing charges of aggravated assault and domestic battering.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Dec. 25, 2023 the victim came into the Harrison Police Department to report Surett, her ex-boyfriend, broke into her house and attacked her.

Surett allegedly started yelling at the victim as she went into the living room. She stated Surett had dragged her across the living room by her hair, threw her on the couch and began choking her. The victim tried biting and punching Surett to get him off her at which point he allegedly punched her five to six times. The victim stated that both her children were in the house at the time of the incident.

While speaking with officers, the victim had visible bruising on her left eye, left ear, left hand, red marks on her neck and a bruise on her left shoulder blade.

Surett is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault and a misdemeanor of domestic battering and is ordered no contact with the victim. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 5.
