Harrison Council Member Talks Entertainment District

Harrison Council member Jeremy Ragland voted in favor of the entertainment district; the vote was 5 to 3.

Ragland appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss the matter on Friday. He said there's a lot of "passion" from people on both sides of the issue. Ragland added that the meeting was well attended. This district allows for open use of alcohol. The council member said this has morphed into a "wet dry issue."

"That, like it or not, was settled 12 years ago now," he said. He said alcohol sales will proceed regardless of whether or not there's an entertainment. Ragland said more of the issues in question aren't about the district.

Ragland explained what the district is: the district legally allows people to carry alcoholic drinks in the district that were purchased within the district from a business legally selling it.

He stressed that drunk driving and public intoxication will remain illegal and punishable. Ragland discussed all of this and more on the show.

The full interview with Ragland is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
